Let's get ready to rumble...........

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't exactly bring my A-game to work this week. In fact I spent the better part of Tuesday morning hiding out in the tape library and trying not to fall asleep on a stack of old Beta tapes.

Later in the afternoon, as I sat in a boardroom meeting internally debating the merits of Diet Coke over Diet Dr. Pepper, I chided myself for my less than exemplary work ethic. Not even two cans of the aforementioned Diet Coke were enough to raise my sagging energy levels. Little did I know that shit was about to get real.

It's always awkward and uncomfortable when people around you argue. But when those two people are co-workers whose cubicles border your own it's highly entertaining, if not still slightly awkward.

I can't say for certain what started the argument, and it's probably not important. But the spectacle that ensued, certainly kept my attention better than the paperwork I'd been trying to finish. And since I'm no big fan of either lady involved, an extra level of enjoyment was added. The louder they got, the more everyone pretended not to notice and continue on with their work in exaggerated gestures of typing and phone dialing. And as more people filtered into the area, "not noticing, just using the fax machine" I prayed that no one would intervene and put an end to the only thing that had held my interest all day.

But eventually someone did and they went back to their respective scratching posts. They were called into the boss's office and much to my disappointment they made up, and apologized to the rest of the office for the disruption. It's was a fittingly anti-climactic end to an anti-climactic day.

I'm hoping for a rematch sometime soon. Hopefully this will not be the last eruption of friskiness from these two kitties. Next time, I'm hoping for some slapping or hair pulling. Until then I wait patiently in the safety of my cubicle.

I propose you do something to trigger a brawl. And please videotape. Nothing like fighting over petty events/items/words/hair color to bring people together.

p.s.
In the future I would like to see a post on the merits of Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper.
